(TEMECULA, Calif., June 8, 2010) – PlantCML®, an EADS North America company, together with AT&T, recently completed the installation of its next generation call processing solution, Sentinel® Patriot®, into the Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center (SCECC) in Topeka, Kan.

The IP-enabled Sentinel Patriot call processing solution offers highly flexible configurations to meet the needs of mission-critical call centers. It features a fully integrated PBX, improving reliability with features such as automatic hot redundancy of servers and no single point of system failure. The Sentinel Patriot solution also offers a full suite of computer telephony features, such as automatic call distribution (ACD), automatic number identification (ANI) and automatic location identification (ALI).

“The installation of [the] Sentinel Patriot [solution] prepares our call center for next-generation (NG)9-1-1 by simplifying the process of answering a 9-1-1 call and dispatching it to one of the 13 first responding agencies we work with, including law enforcement, fire and EMT services,” said Lance Royer, captain, Communications Division, SCECC. “Our agency handles all the 9-1-1 calls received in Shawnee County and coordinates emergency communications during disasters and other critical situations.”

The SCECC is equipped with 12 call-taking positions, handling more than 102,000 emergency and administrative calls annually. The ECC also dispatches approximately 251,000 calls per year to five law enforcement agencies and eight fire agencies.

“Shawnee County ECC is a pioneer in the emergency communications industry and continues to lead the way in securing the community and providing its call takers with next-generation, Internet Protocol (IP) systems and equipment,” said Carlos Avila, vice president of sales, PlantCML.

A customer of PlantCML since 1996, the SCECC also employs its Aurora® management information system (MIS) to improve efficiency and effectiveness. The Aurora solution enhances management’s ability to gather, organize, data-mine and report on metrics. It includes advanced reporting options, customizable to fit specific needs and ad hoc reporting capabilities.

Additionally, SCECC secured enhanced system protection through PlantCML’s Managed Services. The Monitoring and Response capabilities offered by PlantCML in this package provide remote observation and monitoring of network connectivity; continuous monitoring of performance based on equipment notifications, event logs, systems logs, etc.; immediate dispatch of onsite technical support; close analysis of alerts for predictive indications of a pending failure; and automatic notification of system failure(s) and the need to reroute calls.
