•    IP based P25 digital public safety radio ensures efficient and secure communication

•    The network will expand as part of a major Crown project for the RCMP as a P25 Mission Critical Region Operation Communication System

1 June 2010 – Today EADS Defence & Security announced system acceptance of its CORP25 digital, trunked land mobile radio system by the “O” Division of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), validating that the delivered Project 25 (P25)-based public safety radio network fulfills the operational requirements of the RCMP.

In January of this year, EADS Defence & Security announced that it had been awarded the contract for deployment of its CORP25 digital radio communications network to service the RCMP “O” Division’s critical communications requirements in the province of Ontario, Canada. The contract called for the implementation of a state-of-the-art, open-standard P25 IP-based digital public safety radio communication network along with command and control centers to be expanded across Ontario as the new Central Region Operation Communication System.

“System acceptance by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police marks an important milestone in the EADS commitment to providing public safety organizations with world-class communications tools to assure they can operate smoothly and safely,” said Paul Martin, National Director Sales, Canada, Security and Communication Solutions. “This is a tremendous achievement for EADS Defence & Security and the RCMP; one that will serve as a model in future deployments of the EADS CORP25 open architecture solution across Canada.”

The first phase rollout of the P25 digital communication network will serve as the primary means of providing secure wireless communication across a 360km corridor in Ontario. The second and larger phase will extend the network to cover the entire province and replace the existing Central Region Operation Communication System.

“The EADS CORP25 next generation solution provides a highly secure mission critical radio network,” Pierre Delestrade, President and CEO, EADS Canada said. “Today’s system acceptance is one more step toward the Royal Canadian Mounted Police’s ultimate goal of rolling the P25 system out across the province.”

As an IP-based, open-standards (APCO P25) digital trunked solution, CORP25 allows P25 and non-P25 radios to operate together on one core architecture, providing operators full autonomy and control over the radio network.
