Alleged Communication Failure During Colorado Wildfire Not Cassidian Communications REVERSE 911® Brand Emergency Notification System
By Admin on
The March wildfire in Colorado, which burned 4,500 acres and claimed the lives of three innocent people, may now be over but the investigation is not. Neither is the harsh criticism of the emergency notification system, which allegedly failed to alert several local residents.
It has been brought to our attention by several concerned customers that on multiple occasions the media incorrectly identified the involved emergency notification system to be "reverse 9-1-1." At this time, we would like to put our customers’ and potential customers' minds at ease. The system in question was not Cassidian Communications REVERSE 911® brand emergency notification system.
The REVERSE 911® brand is a registered trademark of Cassidian Communications, Inc. As such, the REVERSE 911® brand should only be used to describe Cassidian Communications emergency notification solution.
We would also like to remind everyone that while emergency notification technology does give officials greater alerting capabilities, it is only one component of an overall public safety communications strategy. During emergencies like the Colorado wildfire, information should be disseminated through multiple outlets and residents should always seek out information from as many reliable sources as possible.
While our hearts go out to those who lost loved ones and property during this terrible event, we feel that we must allay customer fears by setting the record straight.
